Hello

And welcome back.

A LOOONG time since I blogged. Too much to comment on here

In the "business as usual department" the presidential race is heating up with the usual smearing campaigns. I can barely stomach it anymore. I still firmly believe each and every individual has to look at themself and better the world around them. If we all do that, then the world as a whole will be better. Simplistic? Utopian? Maybe, but you have to admit that in theory it makes sense.

This country does need change of mindset. We've got to get back to being hard working. We've got to be more efficient in our thought processes, problem solving, and task completing. We need to use automation and technology where and when it will help us. We need to start doing more house and yard work for ourself. We need to realize that we may have to take a job that may not be the perfect fit, but if we can take that job and learn from it to evolve and raise up to the next level, then the job was worth taking.

I'm deeply disappointed with McCain's selection for VP candidate. This definitely seems like nothing but a publicity stunt, something he has been against as far as a means to strengthen his campaign. While I do think that actions speak louder than words, I for one am sick of everyone bashing Palin for being married and 8 months later having a baby with no medical records to prove that the baby was born premature(hence, she got pregnant out of wedlock) and the issues surrounding her 17 year old daughter. People, they live in ALASKA! Does anyone remember Skank (played by Ron Eldard) in the movie Mystery Alaska? "Sir, there ain't much to do her but fuck and play hockey" I'm sure demographics will show that a great deal of teenage pregnancies occur in Alaska and Canada. How many children are born in late summer as a result of people getting snowed in by blizzards? Ok, so we have a woman stressing family values and she herself got knocked up out of wedlock and her daughter followed suit. On the other hand, the woman and her family are raising a child with a disability. I can allow some leeway on one issue when she is taking on a far more daunting task and from what I see she is doing a good job

I will continue to strive to make my world and the world of those who are affected by my actions a better one to live in

Words cannot even describe

the mixture of emotions....

Check out this link from Big Jonny over at DC.com

Now, take a look under the comments section

I CANNOT BELIEVE that some of the news agencies reporting this actually CROPPED OUT the police cruiser swerving AWAY from the oncoming drunk driver..

WHAT THE FUCK EVER HAPPENED TO PROTECT AND SERVE?

I guess the new slogan should be protect and SWERVE.

I hope family members dig Johnny Cochran out of his grave and fucking take legal action against the police officer.

He is driving a 4,000 pound vehicle with a crash bar, SHOULD be strapped in with his seat belt, and has air bags.

Instead the coward swerves to allow people on 15 pound bikes get pummelled and killed.

So this is where society and humanity is headed.

I've said it once and I'll say it again:

Stop the world, I wanna get off

Hypocrisy in America

This morning, I was in the gym desperately trying to work off the excess adipose tissue that has collected like a 650c around my midsection when I saw a news segment on Good Morning America.

There was a clip about a police officer who was treated by the driver who he had pulled over after the officer was clipped by an SUV(big suprise) that was passing by the scene

Here is the link:
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=4746676

In the story that followed, they talked about 157 officers killed in 2007 by being sideswiped by drivers while making routine traffic stops

Apparently they have created a one line PSA to both the drivers who have pulled over to the shoulder as well as drivers passing by the scene of the traffic stop:
"Move Over America"

All I have to say is this is pure fucking hypocrisy! Have we as cyclists been asking for drivers to move over for us for how many years? How many cyclists are killed or permanently disabled when in a legal bike lane or on the (supposed) correct side of the while line on the shoulder? Based on the biker down posts on your site, I would say that figure is waaaay above 157!

I find some type of irony in the situation as well, since we are supposed to be taking pity and having consideration for the same group of people who have a CLEAR BIAS in favor of drivers when it is a bicyclist versus motorist situation.

Last, these dumb fucks in uniform can't survey the situation before leaving their cruiser and get on their loudspeaker and tell the motorist to pull farther onto the shoulder? Also, what happened to the technique of them parking with their front end of the car biased outward almost into the road to almost "force" passing drivers to give them a wide berth?

I know as a Catholic I'm not supposed to believe in Karma (maybe that's why priests fondle the nuts of little boys, because they think there will be no repercussions?), but I think these officers being killed is some type of poetic justice for the lack of due diligence in their investigations and filing of charges (or lack thereof) against drivers who kill cyclists..

Last, Good Morning America acted like it was some tragedy. Last I checked, isn't the possible loss of life an assumed risk that one takes when choosing be a police officer and enforce the law (even when even pulling someone over for going 2 MPH over the speed limit)?

Happy Birthday to Juan Grande

To someone whom I consider a friend, although I have never met him

I've been visiting Big Jonny's Site for probably 6 years now. I'm telling you, it never gets old.

From Politics to Cycling to Drinking to Nonsense, the OG Drunk Cyclist has brought it real to us.

Jonny, I'm putting you on notice...next year, I will be 40. A contingent is planning a trip to Vegas for it. I know you will have a newborn and a 3 year old running round the house, but I expect you and the posse to be in Vegas for a meet and greet and guzzle much EtOH

How Pitiful is this comment?

"My only regret is not winning a national title for the University of Memphis," Derrick Rose said. "I am, however, very excited about the prospect of playing in the NBA and continuing to strive to be the best player and the best person I can be."

How about fucking regretting not fulfilling your primary responsibility of obtaining your undergraduate college degree?

When is the NCAA going to fucking make these people pay back the scholarship money if they leave school early?

What a waste of blood

Happy Birthday Mom

Today, my mother would have been 66 years old.

I am coming clean with something- I'm still not over her death.

She was my best friend. When I mean my best friend, she did everything a best friend should do

She was my toughest critic, my loudest cheerleader, my biggest provider of unconditional love and support, my sounding board for ideas, my biggest promoter, and the best grandmother to two beautiful little girls a father could ask for

Alot of things spontaneously set off tears. Today, I was driving home and "Bad Moon Risin'" by Credence Clearwater Revival came on the radio. There was no way that the tears were not going to hold back. Growing up, my uncle had (and still has) a camp along the Juniata River. We spent nearly every weekend there when I was a child and young teenager and CCR was in steady rotation on the 8 track(yes, arseholes, I am THAT old)player.
Watching America's Game on NFL network where the champoinship teams of the Steelers are revisited, especially the Super Bowl wins again Dallas and the Rams, touches off emotions. She was crazy about Terry Bradshaw and like him or hate him, Lynn Swann and John Stallworth wouldn't have had the careers they did had it not been for Bradshaw gunslinging. He was one of the first QBs to call his own plays, and the fact that he has overcome a huge stuttering problem to be one of the most colorful NFL personalities today is a testiment to his character

I Love You Mom

Ok, this is just scary...

http://poinography.com/?p=5666

How the HELL can you say "there were things going on behind the scenes" that warranted refraining from scrambling the jets?

A passenger airliner not responding for 17 minutes??

Out of Control
